Information for Visitors

St Lawrence C of E Church is situated at the heart of Barnwood.

Our Parish Church dates back to Norman times. Its beautiful and atmospheric inner sanctum offers a quiet and relaxing environment in which to worship.

The impressive tower is early 16th century and the peals of its bells can be heard ringing through Barnwood and Abbeymead on a Sunday morning.

We offer a range of Church of England services, both traditional and more informal, and hope you will come and give us a visit.

Families and children find our monthly Let's Praise service welcoming and fun. We also offer 'Explore Creation' sessions one Sunday morning a month, with outdoor activites in Barnwood park and arboretum and crafts and Bible stories in the Church Centre.

Our Parish Centre was opened in 2001 and offers a modern and spacious facility for the community. During very busy services, at Christmas for example, we may need to park pushchairs and buggies in the centre, rather than in the church, for everyone's safety. We are more than happy to hold babies, or help unload and park your pushchair or buggy for you, so that you can enjoy the service.

Our weekly Coffee Shop takes place in the Church Cente on a Monday morning - all are welcome.
Both Church and Parish Centre are easily located on Church Lane in Barnwood (find us).
